Hard Work Beats Talent When Talent Doesn't Work Hard.
Your child’s birthday party should keep guests moving, give parents room to organize, and stay on schedule. Weather should not control the plan.
At Ohio Sports Complex in Willoughby, you can create an indoor climate-controlled backyard for your child’s next baseball or softball birthday party. You bring the food, decorations, and activities. We provide the indoor turf space, lobby, tables, chairs, and a practical setup for youth games.
The party rental is $250 for 3 hours. Capacity is best at 30 people or less.
Check the Parties page for current details.

1. Plan A Whiffle Ball Birthday Party
Whiffle ball is an easy choice for a sports-themed birthday. It works for different ages and skill levels. It also allows more children to participate without needing a full baseball setup.
You will need to bring:
- Whiffle ball bats
- Whiffle balls
- Helmets, if desired
- Team-colored shirts or pinnies
- A simple lineup
There are bases available in the facility. Use the turf to create a compact field and keep the distance appropriate for your group.
Run the game in short innings. Switch teams often. Avoid long waits.
Please bring your own bats and balls. Equipment is not automatically provided with the party rental.
2. Organize A Flag Football Game
Your party does not need to stay with one sport.
A small flag football game can give guests a different activity during the rental. Keep it simple with short routes, passing, and end-zone scoring.
You will need to bring:
- Football
- Flags or flag belts
- Cones
- Team shirts or pinnies
Use a small playing area. Avoid full-speed contact. Set clear rules before play begins.
A short game may work best after baseball activities. It gives the group a new challenge without requiring a complicated setup.
The facility does not provide the football or flags. Please bring your own equipment.
3. Add A Cornhole Competition
Cornhole is a good option for guests who want a lower-intensity activity. It can also give parents and siblings something to do.
Bring your own cornhole boards and bags. Set them up away from the main playing area. Use a short tournament format:
- Divide guests into teams.
- Give each team a short warm-up.
- Play to a low score.
- Move winners into a final round.
- Keep the competition brief.
Cornhole can take place while food is being served or while other guests are waiting for their turn on the turf.
Plan the layout before guests arrive. The facility setup is modular, so tables, chairs, and other items can be moved as needed.
4. Set Up Sports Skills Stations
Skills stations help you organize a busy group. They also make the party feel active without requiring one long game.
Create three or four areas:
- Hitting station
- Throwing station
- Catching station
- Target toss
- Base-running station
Move groups every 10–15 minutes. Use an adult or older player to manage each station.
For baseball and softball players, you can focus on basic technique. For guests who are new to the sport, keep the instructions short.
Show the activity first. Then let each child try.
Use The Lobby For Food, Cake, and Gifts
The large lobby and seating area gives you a place to handle the non-sports part of the party.
You can set up:
- Folding tables
- Folding chairs
- Food and drinks
- Birthday cake
- Cupcakes
- A present table
- Party favors
- Decorations
The layout is modular. Move the tables and chairs to fit your plans. A mini fridge is also available if you need to keep something cold.
You may decorate the lobby with:
- Balloons
- Tablecloths
- Team colors
- Baseball or softball decorations
- Birthday signs
- Simple centerpieces
Bring your own food, drinks, serving items, and decorations. Plan to clean up before your rental ends.
Build A Team-Colored Birthday Theme
Baseball and softball parties are easy to customize.
Choose the child’s favorite colors or current team colors. Use those colors for the tablecloths, balloons, cups, plates, and shirts.
Simple theme ideas include:
- Home Run Birthday
- All-Star Birthday
- Rookie Season
- Fastpitch Party
- Ballpark Birthday
- Baseball or Softball Skills Challenge
- Team vs. Team Birthday Game
You do not need an expensive setup. A few balloons, a decorated cake, and team-colored table items can make the party feel organized.
Bring decorations that can be set up and removed during your rental time.
Finish With Cake and A Quick Awards Ceremony
After the games, bring the group back to the lobby for food and cake.
You can give each guest a simple award:
- Best Teammate
- Fastest Runner
- Strongest Throw
- Best Hustle
- Great Attitude
- Home Run Hero
- Future All-Star
Keep the awards positive and inclusive. Every child should receive recognition.
This also creates a clear ending for the party. Guests can eat, open gifts, and prepare for pickup while the activity area is no longer in use.
What To Know Before You Book
Please review these details before reserving your party.
Capacity
Ohio Sports Complex recommends 30 people or less for a comfortable party.
This includes children and adults. The space works best when the guest list matches the turf and lobby layout.
Self-Service Rental
This is a self-service rental model, similar to an Airbnb.
After you reserve your time, you receive an access code. You arrive at your reserved time, enter the facility, and set up as needed.
There may be another team practicing before or after your rental. They will arrive or leave according to their reserved time.
Staff Availability
There is no staff on-site during rentals.
Ohio Sports Complex is available by email on the day of your rental if you need assistance. Please plan your activities, equipment, food, decorations, and cleanup before the party begins.
For questions or to arrange a time to view the space, email ohiosportscomplex@gmail.com.
Facility Size
The turf area is approximately 50 feet by 70 feet. The ceilings are 16 feet tall.
This is a practical indoor space for youth games. It is not a full-size outdoor field. Keep activities controlled and watch overhead lighting when throwing or hitting.
Party Cost
The party rental cost is:
- $250 for 3 hours
If there are no rentals immediately before or after your party, you may be able to come in 30 minutes early for setup and cleanup.
